A driver and passenger were killed when a train hit their car at a railway crossing in Grimsby, The Guardian reports.

The train, which was travelling at 60mph, hit the vehicle at the railway crossing in Grimsby, Lincolnshire at 7.39pm on Wednesday night, which killed the driver and the passenger. There were no injuries to the train passengers. British Transport Police stated that one of the accident victims died at the scene, with the other as they were being taken to hospital. Ambulances and police were at the scene of the accident, which occured at an automated half-barrier crossing at Great Coates. A police spokeswoman said that "There are no reports of any injuries to anyone on the train, the 19.26 TransPennine Cleethorpes to Scunthorpe service.
