The motorist's car left the M1 motorway carriageway after a high-speed tyre blow-out, and rolled 20 yards down the steep embankment after junction 40 to Osset, near Wakefield in West Yorkshire. The accident happened around 1.30pm in the afternoon. Fire and ambulance crews from Wakefield and Ossett attended the scene and cut the driver from his car. He was then taken to Pinderfields Hospital in Wakefield for further examination and treatment. No other cars or people were involved or injured in the incident, which led to the closure of one lane of the M1 and some delays for other motorists.
