Man arrested after policeman hit by car
A man has been held in police custody and arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after he hit a police officer in his car in Birmingham.
The Birmingham police officer is said to have suffered from a suspected fractured pelvis after being hit by a man trying to escape in his car. The 50-year-old arrested man was being chased by the West Midlands Police officer after reports of an intruder in a shed in the Erdington area of Birmingham just before 3pm on Friday. The police officer tried to stop the vehicle being driven by the man in Oval Road in Aston, when he was hit by the blue Honda car. The officer was taken to hospital, and remains in a "serious but stable condition".
