M62 fall woman recovering in hospital
The woman who plunged from an M62 bridge onto the top of a van is recovering in hospital, police say.
The woman was airlifted to hospital after she fell from the Round Ings Road bridge around 4.30pm on Thursday 27th June, landing onto the eastbound lane of the motorway. Drivers rushed to help the woman as she laid on the motorwy, causing traffic jams to stretch back 15 miles to J27 at Gildersome. Highways Agency closed the local area to allow a Yorkshire Air Ambulance to land. Police say that she is being treated for serious leg injuries, and that inquiries were still being made to ascertain what happened.
