The motorist, aged in her late 20s/early 30s, died when her car, a Ford Ka, crashed into four other cars on the M5 motorway southbound around Weston Super Mare towards Clevedon after midnight. A police spokesperson from Avon and Somerset Police said that the motorist was involved in separate collision with two vehicles and was left stationary after it was hit by two other vehicles. The accident left the busy motorway closed for several hours while the emergency services dealt with the incident. The M5 motorway runs from Juncion 8 from the M6 in West Bromwich through to Exeter in Devon, and is one of the country's primary tourist routes. Congestion on the M5 motorway is notoriously busy during holiday periods, including Bank Holiday weekends.
