The A500, also known as the D-Road, is a major road in the United Kingdom connecting the cities of Stoke-on-Trent and Crewe in Cheshire. It is approximately 12 miles in length, taking approximately 17 minutes to travel. The A500 was constructed between 1965 and 1969.
The busiest times on the A500 are normally rush hours on weekday mornings and evenings. Traffic can be heavy on this stretch of road, as it provides an important link between Cheshire and Staffordshire.
According to data from the Department for Transport, the total reported accidents to have occurred on the A500 over the last year were 89. Of these, 11 resulted in serious or fatal injuries, making the accident rate 15.2%. The vast majority of these collisions were attributed to driver error.
