a18

The A18 is a major road in the UK, linking Doncaster to Laceby, a total distance of 153 miles. It was constructed in 1937 as part of a comprehensive road network linking the East Coast of England to the Midlands.

The busiest times on the A18 tend to be around peak commuter hours. As the A18 serves a range of cities and towns, traffic levels can vary but tend to be high throughout the day.

The road has seen a steady increase in the flow of traffic over the past few decades, but overall road safety statistics have remained positive. According to the Department for Transport, the A18 was one of the safest roads in the UK between 2005 and 2017. During this time, the number of deaths or injuries on the A18 averaged just 19.7 per year.
