The A139 is a road in Essex, England. It runs from South Benfleet to the A13 in Stanford-le-Hope.
The A139 has an interesting history. It was originally constructed in 1880, connecting the town of South Benfleet with Stanford-le-Hope. In the late 1940s, the road underwent significant upgrades, involving widening and realigning sections of the road. These upgrades improved the road's safety and allowed it to cope with increased traffic.
The busiest times on the A139 are generally during peak times, such as mornings and evenings. This is due to people commuting to and from work or school. During these periods the traffic can be heavy at times, particularly during school holidays and bank holidays. When it comes to traffic flow, the A139 is generally considered a low-congestion route. It is a single carriageway that is wide enough to accommodate two lanes of traffic in each direction. As a result, the traffic usually flows quite smoothly. In terms of safety, the A139 is considered to be a generally safe road. Over the past five years, the number of accidents, fatalities, and serious injuries has been steadily decreasing.
