The A123 is an important primary route in the south-west of England. It is a major regional highway that runs through Wiltshire, Gloucestershire, Oxfordshire and Berkshire. It was first established in 1927, and since then it has become an important link to the local towns in the area. The busiest times on the A123 are generally during rush hours. The road has two lanes in each direction and can become heavily congested during peak periods. However, some sections of the road are able to handle more traffic at certain times.
The A123 is also very popular for recreational driving, with tourists and locals alike using the route for scenic drives and trips to tourist attractions.
